Austin Leyritz

Austin Leyritz is a former professional baseball player, originally from South Florida turned Southern California baseball product whose career reflects a lifelong connection to the game, competitive development, and a strong baseball pedigree. A right-handed hitter and thrower, Leyritz developed as a versatile athlete with experience across multiple defensive positions, including the infield, shortstop, second base, and outfield. 

Leyritz attended Tesoro High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, one of Southern California’s highly competitive high school baseball regions. After high school, he continued his baseball career at the independent professional level, with the Watertown Bucks, USPBL Birmingham Beavers and Baltimore Orioles minor league system. His playing background reflects athleticism, versatility, and a deep understanding of the game from multiple defensive perspectives. 

Beyond his own playing career, Leyritz carries a unique baseball background as the son of former New York Yankees postseason standout Jim Leyritz. Growing up around the game gave him firsthand exposure to the discipline, preparation, and mental toughness required to compete at high levels of baseball. That experience has helped shape his approach to leadership, player development, and the details of the game. 

Leyritz also brings experience from his time at The Togethership Academy in San Clemente, California, a unique private school designed for elite student-athletes in grades 6 through 8 and high school prep. The Academy combines rigorous, interactive academic learning with advanced physical conditioning, recovery programs, and sport-specific training. Through this environment, Leyritz has been connected to a holistic model of athlete development that emphasizes not only baseball skill, but also academic growth, physical preparation, recovery, discipline, and long-term performance habits. 

A seasoned youth travel baseball coach with successful seasons coaching 12u making a run at Cooperstown and 13u D1/Majors level. For the 2025/2026 season, Leyritz coached the BOTS Baseball 11U team growing them from AAA to a competitive Majors level team competing with nationally ranked majors teams from coast to coast. As a coach for the BOTS Baseball 11U team, he works closely with young athletes to develop their fundamentals, confidence, baseball IQ, and competitive mindset. In this role, he has helped guide player growth both on and off the field, focusing on skill development, accountability, teamwork, and preparing athletes to compete with purpose. 

Austin’s baseball journey is defined by versatility, competitive experience, and a passion for developing the next generation of players. His background as a former professional player, coach, and mentor within athlete-development environments allows him to bring a valuable perspective to young players, combining technical instruction with the discipline, preparation, and mindset needed to grow in the game.
